Amber Lager Kits

These styles are becoming very popular with many micro-breweries. They require cold fermentation and extended fermentation like the light lagers but are more robust in color and flavor.


Bunyan Bock- A traditional beer to celebrate the coming of spring. Many German bock beers depict a goat on the label to signify a beer of strength. Deep copper in color, rich and smooth, this beer is hearty enough to even please the palate of Minnesota's most famous axe swinger. This is a malty and satisfying brew perfect for a late spring get together to watch the snow melt. The kit contains: 6 lbs. Amber malt extract, 3.3 lbs. Gold malt extract, 2 oz. Tettnanger bittering hops, 1 oz. Hallertau aroma hops, 1 lb. Crystal 80°L, yeast and priming sugar.

Oompapa Octoberfest- This amber beer goes well with fall colors and the sound of polka under the big tent. This beer has an above average alcohol content to satisfy the partiers during the big fall celebrations. Octoberfests are generally brewed in the spring and cold lagered all summer long for a smooth rich flavor and color. This beer is a favorite of many year around . The kit includes: 9.3 lbs. Amber Malt extract, 1/2 lb. Crystal 50°L & 1/2 lb. Carapils grain blend, 2 oz. Mt. Hood bittering hops, 1 oz. Hallertau aroma hops, yeast, and priming sugar.

Red Wing Lager- This smooth tasting well rounded amber colored lager goes well with any season and any occasion. A classic amber lager that goes well with many German foods. Key to Beer Description Graphics-The season circle at the top indicates optimum times to drink the individual style. The bar below the circle indicates the beer's bitterness. This is on a scale of 1 - 3, 3 being the most bitter. The boxes below suggest serving time as follows: R-Refreshment, B-Before dinner, M-with a Meal, and A-After dinner. Of course these are suggestions and your tastes may vary. The darkened areas are those that apply.
